When deciding what to wear to a job interview, a suit will give you a leg-up on your competition, and in today’s job market, you’re probably going to be competing with literally hundreds of other applicants.  

Making a great first impression is what we all aspire to, and nothing makes a better impression than a great-looking suit. Actually, 25% of recruiters say professional attire can positively impact their decision to hire someone. You want to make a good impression, fit in, and have recruiters remember you for the right reasons.  



Ideally, you want to research the company and plan your outfit according to what their vibe and style are. For the professional office setting though, you may want to leave the flashy club clothing and accessories at home. (Maybe leave the stilettos for another occasion. Just saying.)

• Pear shaped: A jumpsuit with a fitted top and flared bottom would work best for you. A style like this is going to balance out your proportions and create a flattering silhouette. 
• Hourglass: Lucky girl - about any jumpsuit will look amazing on you. Be sure to choose a style that fits you in the waist and highlights your curves. 
• Petite: You want a jumpsuit that has a cropped or wide leg. This helps to give the illusion of a leaner and longer shape. 
• Plus-size: Be on the look out for a jumpsuit that is made of a flowy fabric and has a defined waist. This style will accentuate your curves and create a slimming effect. 

Pencil skirts are very forgiving, even though they are short and straight in shape. Of course they suit rectangular shapes, too, emphasizing your legs and lean silhouette. However, they also suit pear and hourglass figures nicely. It’s definitely worth having a skirt or two in your career-wear arsenal.   

Pro-Tip: Whether or not to wear tights under a skirt is a matter of personal preference and can depend on what’s happening weather-wise and what your individual style is. Tights are typically thicker and provide more coverage, on the other hand, pantyhose are sheer and light. Both can be worn under a skirt or dress, so it comes down to what makes you feel most comfortable and confident.
