Rated 5 out of 5 by reddirtgal from My first ever basic black dress! It occurred to me when I eyed this for my daughter for Christmas that I don't have a basic black dress. I'm a redhead with blue eyes and, even though I know black is slimming, it makes my skin sallow. I could always fix that with makeup but I try clothes on without makeup to get a better sense of whether they really work for me. I decided to try it on the flash sale and was pleased with how flattering the line is on me. It gives me back the waistline I lost somewhere along the way. I also picked up the Crepe 2-Button Relaxed Blazer in blue and it is stunning over it. The collar is a bit awkward but I was able to tuck it under the blazer and put a chunky necklace on to hold it out of the way. I didn't think the collar added anything to the dress when I looked at it online but it's not that obvious. The knit is soft and cozy so a night out in it will be fun as well as help me look and feel good.
