I’m maid of honour in my sister’s wedding this summer. What type of dresses should the bride and the bridesmaids wear to the rehearsal dinner?
Have you checked out our dress lookbook? We have some really fun suggestions showing groups of ladies wearing dresses we currently carry! They are wearing styles that sit beautifully together, without being too “matchy matchy.”
What is the best style for covering up a wee bit of a tummy?
That’s a super common question (and something we think about ourselves!). You really can’t go wrong with a fit & flare! The two styles featured below have that perfect silhouette and a few other camouflaging details like crochet and stripes that we think you will love!
What’s your favourite dress for a summer wedding?
We only get to pick one?! Well, we have our Fashion Stylist and our Dress Buyer on the panel today, and we are going to let them each share their top picks for occasion dresses…
Tara (Fashion Stylist)
I just love this dreamy ruffle style! It just needs beautiful statement earrings and a great tan.
Jenna (Dress Buyer)
I love stripes! So this fun chevron dress is my absolute favourite (so much so that I wore it recently in a Ricki’s in Real Life feature). I wear it for work or dress it up for special occasions.
I am in the process of losing weight. What styles of dresses can better accommodate fluctuating sizes?
This is a great question… While your size is changing, we would suggest going with an a-line or trapeze silhouette. Look for a size that fits now - and know that it will look just as great if it’s worn looser. Here are a few versions that we love.
Wishing you luck on your journey!
What style of accessories would you recommend pairing with a dress that has a bold print?
We are really loving all the beautiful statement earrings right now! A nice gold, silver, or neutral coloured style would really compliment a bold print. We think these would be lovely…
My brother is getting married in July, and the event will be semi-formal/casual – with no A/C. Which dress would you recommend for the wedding?
That is going to be a HOT event… LITERALLY! (Sorry. We couldn’t resist.)
We suggest something light and airy and not too structured for a look that is effortless (but beautiful) and will help you stay cool.
These are our top picks for you…
We’d love to see your final look! Share it on Instagram and tag #loverickis so we can find it… And you’ll be automatically entered to win a $100 gift card (there’s a winner every month).
I love halter maxi dresses! Which accessories would you recommend to finish this look?
Have we mentioned how much we love earrings right now? Because we love earrings right now. There are a TON of fun new styles that would be perfect with a halter maxi. Here are our faves.
And of course, you can never go wrong with a bracelet! We have a few that would be perfect with a summer maxi dress.
Are belts with dresses still a thing? I love this look and it’s really flattering on me, but I’m wondering if they are still in style.
Belted dresses are absolutely in style... We don’t think they ever went out of style!
Here are a few of the belted styles we have in at the moment (and you’ll be happy to hear that there are more on the way).
Or you can add or swap in your own belt! Here are three we love with dresses.
I’m looking for a dress style and length that adds height! I’m short, but I like to wear flat, comfortable shoes.
It’s important to be comfortable - there are some super cute options in flat shoes right now! To look taller, try a pointed toe flat or slide, and avoid ankle straps.
There are all kind of dress details that can help create the illusion of height... Here are a few options with some tricks up their sleeves ;)
The diagonal stripes on this wrap dress will give the appearance of height (and BONUS: they are also slimming!)
And there is a reason this is one of our top rated - and best selling - dresses! The stripe pattern on this maxi dress really does work magic to make you look taller!
I’m in need of a dress for a summer wedding. I’m a pear shape, and I want my legs mostly covered. What would you recommend?
We think you’ll love our beautiful selection of dressed up maxi dresses! They will give you the leg coverage you’re looking for and be dressed up enough for a wedding. Here are a few of our favourites.
I am a Size 16 with a large bust. Most dresses end up looking like an empire waist dress on me... Any suggestions?
To answer your question, we have consulted with one of our home office associates who is our #1 dress fan and also struggles with finding a dress that doesn’t end up looking like an empire! She always looks fabulous in our dresses, so we thought we’d share her suggestions :)
I look for styles without a seam or a clear divide at the waist. If they do have a seam there, I always try it on to see where it sits on me – and I pick styles that have those seams sitting lower (more at my true waist) vs. some that end right under the bust.
My other trick is to use belts and ties! They look super cute and do a great job of highlighting my waist, and bringing it in further away from the bust.
Here are some of my top picks:
Will you be getting more dresses that fall below the knee (but aren't a full maxi length).
Sounds like you’re looking for a midi dress - it’s definitely a rising trend! We have some great new midi options coming in August.
Here are a few mid-length options we’re loving right now!
