fabric & care
our guarantee
At Ricki's, we stand behind our quality. Our fabrics are subjected to 3rd party testing that ensures criteria such as pilling, stretch recovery and washing machine care instructions meet industry standards prior to production.
importance of proper sizing
Please consult our online fit guide to help determine the best size for you. Wearing the correct size results in less stress put on fabrics or seams, which in turn increases the life span of your garments.
fabric care
Always refer to the fabric care label found in our garments to see how we recommend laundering the item. Familiarizing yourself with the care symbols will help to ensure the garment is properly cared for. Spandex and rayon are heat sensitive and have the capacity to be damaged by a high heat washer or dryer cycle.
denim care
We recommend that all denim styles be turned inside out prior to washing. Always wash in cold water and hang to dry, or lay flat. If you prefer to use the dryer, tumble dry on low or without heat. Our denim is preshrunk and comes in cotton/spandex, cotton/polyester, and cotton/polyester/spandex blends. Once washed, it returns to its original shape.
rinse wash styles
The first time you launder, wash the denim inside out in hot water adding a tablespoon of salt or vinegar and detergent. This will help eliminate the bleeding of the dye, set the colour and retain the dark wash. This process typically needs to be done for the first wash only or until there is no more colour transfer.
DISCLAIMER: Salt can be damaging to washing machines. If using salt to set indigo dye, we recommend doing so in a bucket or pail and then rinsing thoroughly before washing.
our fabrics
cotton
A natural, staple fibre that allows for optimum breathability, comfort and ease of care. Used in a variety of blends and garments.
cotton sateen
Our cotton sateen is a blend of cotton, polyester and spandex. The cotton gives the fabric structure and the spandex offers stretch (for ease of wear). The polyester component allows the fabric to hold its shape better than traditional cotton sateen and gives the fabric a beautiful polished lustrous finish.
denim
A strong and durable cotton twill fabric, most commonly found in blue or indigo washes.
gabardine
A heavier weight fabric than our PRS blend, this twill blend has a luxurious hand feel and excellent drape.
microtwill
Microtwill is our super-stretch (high performance) fabric composed of rayon, nylon and spandex. Due to its unique weave and composition, microtwill has amazing stretch, recovery, and washes well in the machine. Highly durable, it has a smooth finish that is lint and pill resistant.
nylon
A strong synthetic fabric that resists absorbing moisture, nylon adds durability and stretch when blended with natural fibres.
polyester
Usually synthetic, polyester is durable, wrinkle resistant and has excellent color retention. When used in combination with other fibres, polyester can provide specific advantages over natural fabrics due to its ease of care.
prs
One of our staple suiting blends, our PRS fabric is made from a blend of polyester, rayon and spandex. It comes in a variety of weights and weaves, drapes beautifully, and is easy to care for.
rayon
A semi-synthetic fabric made by specially treating cellulose, cotton linters, or wood chips in order to create a fibre that can be woven into fabric. Rayon has a beautiful, soft hand feel and offers a superior drape.
spandex
Synthetic fibre known for its exceptional elasticity. When blended with natural fibres, spandex provides excellent shape retention.
twill
A cotton blend fabric that is woven in a diagonal pattern for added strength. This fabric is most commonly used in heavier weight dress pants or jeans.
